Marina Baranova
Constellation Machine
The title track holds a particularly special moment, as it features pianist Marina Baranova. In this piece, Damian Marhulets and his wife meet directly in a musical dialogue—a rare and intimate collaboration. A track of the same name also appears on Baranova’s own album, and while the central theme is identical, the arrangements differ significantly. Constellation Machine thus serves as a conceptual bridge between the two works. “Marina and I had this idea of creating two musically independent albums—with only a few exceptions—that are nonetheless deeply connected on a conceptual level. Each album can decode, comment on, and explain the other,” Marhulets explains. “The individual pieces across both albums reference one another and build multiple narrative bridges that link them together. At their core, both albums depict the same fantastic world we imagined into being.”

Marina Baranova
Born into a musical family in Ukraine, Marina Baranova began playing the piano when she was five years old. Just two years later, she was accepted into a music school for talented children in her home town of Kharkov. At age 11, Marina won first prize at the International Competition for Young Pianists in Ukraine, which preceded her first international concert tour in Finland.
In the late 90's she moved to Germany to begin studying with Professor Vladimir Krainev at the University for Music, Theatre and Media in Hannover. Throughout her studies in Hannover, she won at least one internationally renowned competition every year.
