Pocket Symphonies (Electronica)

Sven Helbig writes symphonies for today: orchestra meets electronics in song format. The Pocket Symphonies are a coherent cycle of 12 compositions for orchestra and piano quartet. Composer Sven Helbig's idea is to write symphonic gems in the format of songs: short, catchy and yet with the power and depth of great classical symphonies. The Pocket Symphonies were recorded by the MDR Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Kristjan Järvi and with the Fauré Quartet as soloists. The purely acoustic production of the Pocket Symphonies was released on the Deutsche Grammophon label back in 2012. However, Sven Helbig has radically edited the recordings for his solo concerts. He dismantled the recordings and recreated them from electronic clusters. Alienated vibraphone sounds, synthesizer surrogates and breakcore elements are all part of his musical arsenal. These electronic variations - the Pocket Symphonies Electronica - will be released exclusively by Neue Meister as a 180-gram vinyl with download code and as a digital album. The album is the prelude to further collaboration with Sven Helbig.
