Tim Allhoff

Between Here and Nowhere

Pianist Tim Allhoff presents "Between Here and Nowhere", an album inspired by the literary world of Haruki Murakami. For more than two decades, Murakami’s novels have accompanied Allhoff and shaped his fascination with the spaces between reality and imagination, memory and longing. Music plays a central role in Murakami’s writing, with references ranging from artists and composers such as Thelonious Monk, Robert Schumann, Radiohead and The Beatles. On this album, Allhoff translates that atmosphere into sound: some tracks reinterpret musical references from the novels in solo piano arrangements, while others are original compositions imagined as soundtracks for specific scenes or characters. With his personal connection to Japan and his deep interest in its language and culture, Allhoff creates more than a homage. "Between Here and Nowhere" invites listeners into an in-between space where literature, memory and music meet.
