Creatures of Loss
"Creatures of Loss" is the first single from pianist and composer Vetle Nærø. The song is based on the idea that we are all creatures of loss. Loss is a recurring theme throughout our lives, and Nærø believes this gives us a common ground for deeper connection with each other: a place where we can meet in understanding the nature of our lives.

Vetle Nærø
Norwegian pianist and composer Vetle Nærø grew up in the coastal town of Ålesund, where he began studying classical piano at the age of nine. Initially drawn to the expressive worlds of Chopin and Rachmaninoff, he later discovered the pioneering minimalism of Philip Glass and Arvo Pärt, while also exploring jazz through his own trio. Yet, as his musical curiosity grew, so did his desire to move beyond interpreting the works of others and find a language of his own.
Nærø composed his first piece at just 14 and released his debut album, By Heart, in 2018. Recorded spontaneously in a single day, the album marked the beginning of a deeply personal artistic journey. His second album, Introspection (2021), saw him develop a more deliberate compositional approach, gradually shaping a distinctive musical voice rooted in simplicity, emotional honesty and reflection.
With From Moments (2023), Nærø continued to explore the beauty of fleeting experiences, creating twelve intimate compositions that invite listeners to slow down, empty their minds and embrace the present. His fourth solo album, All Moments Must Pass (2025), further deepened this exploration of time, memory and the emotions that accompany life's constant changes.
Now, with his forthcoming album Songs of Beginning, again, Nærø opens a new chapter in his musical journey. At its heart lies the idea that every ending carries the possibility of a new beginning. Through delicate melodies, subtle musical developments and an intimate, cinematic atmosphere, he explores the emotions of change, acceptance and rediscovery. Rather than offering definitive answers, his compositions leave space for reflection, allowing listeners to find their own stories within the music.
Balancing the intimacy of solo piano with an unmistakably Nordic sense of atmosphere, Vetle Nærø has developed a musical language that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. His compositions express what words so often cannot, transforming quiet moments, memories and emotions into music that stays with the listener long after the final note has faded.
